Visual Elements/Principles of Design Groups and Assignments:
This will be a group assignment in which you will team teach to the entire class your specific Visual Element or Principle of Design. Then as a team you will present at least one image from your textbook as an example of your topic (excluding images from chapters 4 and 5) to the class. You will then explain your specific topic by utilizing that image or images. Explanation will include a detailed definition of the term or idea and the utilization of the image as a visual example of the term or idea that you are assigned.
All members of the team are required to contribute to the oral presentation. Student work will be evaluated on their group and individual presentations as well as a separate written portion. The written portion of the assignment will be twofold.
* Part I will be to document the work done by the group as a whole. You will write up a response to the main image that you presented to the class.
* Part II, to be done individually, will give an additional example of your principle or visual element from the textbook and explain why you chose it.
Again, this is to be done individually and not as a team. You will find the sheet on which you will complete the written portion of the assignment attached below.
Remember, this is the only opportunity that your classmates will have to hear a lecture on this material, so be thorough. Presentations should: define the assigned term, present the group’s chosen primary example, call attention to the author’s example from the text, and respond to student questions. Stay on topic – do not discuss iconography or artist’s biography unless it helps to explain your assigned visual element or principle of design.
